Before the tenant or their client arrives, it would be a good idea to notify the building’s reception so that they can be directed to your floor. Providing the name of the client and the company that will be hosting them on your premises would be a real bonus. There was nothing to drink: a jug of water and some glasses. In this hot weather, it’s a welcome little touch.

Our booking was changed without us being informed in advance. The room we booked was for 12 people, but on arrival we were given a smaller room for 8 people. The receptionist (Ms Lilia SALHI) gave us her contact details and promised a partial refund. To date, we have received nothing.

Friendly welcome, cosy office, reliable Wi-Fi. A pleasant, quiet setting, ideal for concentrating. Just one issue with the temperature: it gets far too hot with the door closed, and given how windy it was yesterday, it was tricky to keep the door open. But otherwise, it was great – I’d recommend it.

The internet connection is good, the seats are comfortable and there’s plenty of space. One free coffee is provided per day, and there are plenty of phone booths available. However, at lunchtime the space is used as a canteen by staff from other floors, so it quickly gets noisy between 12 noon and 2 pm.

Having booked through Workin Space, I didn’t have the access code or the office number. Fortunately, I was given the details over the phone. The Wi-Fi was also unusable in my case (I couldn’t connect to the company’s internal services). I didn’t have time to find out why, so I spent the afternoon on 4G… Apart from that, everything went well.

No synchronisation with the booking platform, so nobody was expecting me. The room I’d booked had no air conditioning, even though it was listed as having it 😡. The Wi-Fi wasn’t secure, which is unacceptable in terms of cyber security. There was a discrepancy between the refreshments ordered for the break and what was actually provided (coffee, tea, water, juice and petits fours ordered) – on the first day we were given juice and a few petits fours but no coffee or tea; after complaining, it was sorted. In short, I won’t be returning any time soon.

Lack of courtesy on the part of fellow diners (they do not clear their table after eating).

Unless I’m mistaken, the venue isn’t air-conditioned, or at least not properly. This is a major issue given the current temperatures. Otherwise, the location is ideal

Excellent location, close to the Arc de Triomphe. The premises are decent and pleasant, although they don’t particularly stand out from other co-working spaces. Booking via Workin was straightforward and went without a hitch.

There was no one there to welcome me, apart from the hotel staff, who told me they weren’t responsible for that part!! Many of the desks were already being used by the hotel staff. Fortunately, someone came to my aid and gave me the only locked desk that was still available.

Offices in coworking spaces in France
Say goodbye to austere offices and hello to coworking in France. Yes, it seems that France has swapped the gloom of flashing neon for the conviviality of a shared workspace, where creativity flourishes alongside the latest coffee machine. From Paris to Lyon, Bordeaux to Lille, every street corner has become a breeding ground for entrepreneurs, freelancers and companies eager for flexibility, who would never have imagined that one day they'd be delighted to bump into their office neighbor - sometimes dressed up for Halloween, sometimes simply on a rainy Monday morning.
What a revolution this turnkey office phenomenon is! Companies are looking for a new way to adapt, with less rigid commitment, much more flexibility, and a generous pinch of humanity on their premises. Between the race for profitability, the growing needs of employees and the famous quest for balance between professional life and frenzied games of table soccer, coworking has redefined the contours of the working world.
Why is coworking exploding in France?
In the space of a few years, the map of France's traditional office increasingly resembles an impressionist painting bursting with bright colors. It's no longer just open spaces in Paris that are being applauded, but also shared workspaces nestled on the Côte d'Azur or even in the Auvergne. Everyone wants their own convivial corner of the table, if possible with a view of the Vieux-Port or the rooftops of Toulouse.
Behind this great collective migration, there is above all a desire for a radical change in the way things are organized. Gone are the long leases and interminable meetings, long live agility! Flexibility has become the selling point, enabling companies to choose exactly which type of office rental fits their strategy, or how many meeting rooms will be needed to support brainstorming sessions (and strategic coffee breaks).
How is the demand for flexibility shaping the market?
Times are changing fast, and companies now refuse to chase superfluous square meters or rigid contracts.Shared workspaces promise to keep pace with changes in structure: staff mobility, temporary installations, pivotal periods... Whether the team doubles or melts like snow in the sun, the supply of private offices or shared spaces follows.
This explains why more and more managers prefer to juggle with tailor-made formulas rather than blindly sign up for ten years. Flexible solutions are in demand not only in fast-growing metropolises like Nantes and Montpellier, but also in a number of intermediate towns, which are seeing a proliferation of hybrid locations adapted to all sizes of company.
Where is coworking growing fastest in France?
It's impossible to ignore Paris, where the cream of coworking spaces is concentrated, usually taken over in the morning by a horde of digital nomads armed with computers and reusable mugs. Lyon proudly competes, especially around the Part-Dieu area, while Marseille, Nice and Bordeaux attract startups and creative types alike, with their mild climates and stable Wi-Fi connections.
But there are surprises in store: in rural areas such as Limousin or the Basque Country, the establishment ofshared workspaces is poetically bringing about the rebirth of entire villages. Some coworking spaces are even embracing the idea of corpoworking, bringing large corporations and very small businesses together under one roof to boost the local economy and significantly improve day-to-day working life.
What concrete benefits do shared workspaces offer?
While everyone praises the community of smiling coworkers and the inspiring atmosphere, this is far from being a marketing cliché. The French version of coworking is distinguished above all by its all-inclusive services, worthy of a four-star hotel. You can phone, print, organize international conferences or take yoga classes without leaving the building.
The simplicity of the turnkey office attracts many professionals tired of paperwork and allergic to housekeeping. It's hard to complain when you settle into a plug & play space, with a monthly, weekly or even daily subscription. Do you want a tailor-made offer for your tribe of teleworkers? Tailor-made solutions are no longer reserved for haute couture, but for the modern office.
What types of spaces are available in a coworking offer?
There's something for everyone.Open-plan offices are ideal for networking, brainstorming and unofficially comparing the latest project management apps. Those who prefer an intimate cocoon will find what they're looking for in the private offices, real bubbles for confidential meetings or sessions of extreme concentration.
Add to this meeting rooms that can be adapted as required, often equipped as VIP lounges. Business events have never been so easy. Some sites even integrate panoramic terraces, collaborative libraries or relaxation areas to transform lunch breaks into sacred moments.
What do employees expect from shared spaces?
An impromptu survey during a coffee break will suffice to prove it: workers want neither grey routine nor forced isolation. Joining a real coworking community means exchanging tips, best practices and even local restaurant addresses (it's important to share strategic discoveries).
Far from consigning telecommuting to the dustbin of history, coworking offers a logical and humane follow-up to it. Working in a collective environment while retaining freedom and autonomy - this is the promise kept and often renewed: each employee finds a balance between individual performance and being part of an enriching team dynamic.
Corpoworking: daring or a natural evolution?
We used to think that bosses were afraid of the concept of sharing. But, surprise, many companies are now transforming their own premises into spaces open to the public or to other partner companies. The result is corpoworking, an unexpected but highly effective fusion of traditional rental offices and multi-activity hybrid spaces.
The advantages of this model are many: cost sharing, team stimulation, easier networking, the ability to host internal events or external collaborations without having to get out your favorite calculator after every change of plan. Some groups are taking the gamble of opening up part of their space to start-ups, freelancers or local SMEs, to make innovation and cooperation central to their DNA.
Corpoworking and flexibility: how to stay agile?
Offering flexible solutions with hourly, daily or customized bookings was certainly not in the vintage management manuals. And yet, this modularity inspires even the design of buildings, capable of mutating according to the growth or diversification of activities.
In practice, this considerably reduces the friction associated with relocations, recruits new profiles eager for stimulating encounters, while making the company more adaptable to any unforeseen economic tornado. It's also a clever way of attracting and retaining talent tired of impersonal, monotonous workplaces.
Who actually benefits from corpoworking?
First and foremost, companies faced with the need to rethink their real estate organization following the rise of hybrid working. They are adopting in-house coworking to manage their floor space differently, offer attractive environments and, incidentally, improve quality of life at work.
But freelancers and small businesses are also making the most of the opportunity, benefiting from a premium infrastructure they could scarcely have dreamed of on their own. Events, workshops, afterworks - corpoworking multiplies these informal moments that naturally bind teams together and widen the circle of professional relations.
France's coworking landscape: diversity and innovation
To get the full picture, nothing beats a brief summary of the main coworking concepts observed in France. It helps to understand the profusion of formats and services now available to professionals from all walks of life.
| Concept | Description | Target audience | Examples of services |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared workspace | Workstations installed in an open environment, flexible formula. | Freelancers, teleworkers, small businesses | Wi-Fi, unlimited coffee, printer, networking |
| Offices for rent | Closed offices for dedicated teams | Startups, agencies, SMEs | Mail management, ergonomic furniture, secure access |
| Meeting rooms | Bookable spaces to work together on an ad hoc basis | Companies, consultants, coaches | Audiovisual equipment, videoconferencing, catering |
| Open space | Large shared work area for collaboration | Start-ups, freelancers | Community events, personal lockers |
| Corpoworking | Corporate offices open to selected third parties | Large groups, start-ups, external partners | Shared access to infrastructure, customized offers |
This diversity of solutions partly explains the dazzling success of French coworking. From the most discreet premises to arty buildings housing up to a hundred occupants, the trend towards transformation continues, driven by a population eager to reconnect with the notion ofstimulating professional space.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business needs
- Administrative simplicity thanks to turnkey offices
- Reduced commitment, offering freedom and financial security
- Integrated services included in office rental
- Belonging to a proactive community
As the boundaries between leisure and obligation become increasingly blurred, coworking will undoubtedly continue to evolve, even if it means seeing the emergence of workspaces in unusual locations: a barge on the Seine or at the foot of Mont Blanc? Nothing seems to be holding back French creativity when it comes to reinventing the office day. As a result, the wheels of the market are turning, keeping pace with the growing demand for tailor-made solutions and the new demands of an increasingly mobile and connected society.
