Between now and 2022, the Place du Commerce and its surroundings will undergo a radical change. The development of these 2.7 hectares into a vast garden quay starts with the Duguay-Trouin alley. "From the end of 2019, we will have a glimpse of the change with the reopening of the Duguay-Trouin alley, paved identically to the Turenne quay," promises Jacqueline Osty.
Semitan will then work on the complete renovation of the tramway platform in the summer of 2020. During July and August, line 1 will be interrupted and replaced by relay buses. Finally, the work site will move north to redevelop Allee Brancas, Rue de Gorges and Place du Commerce, which will be completely repaved and equipped with fountains.
The Commerce parking lot will also undergo some work in 2020-2021 to equip it with elevators leading to the square. The complete delivery of this new public space is scheduled for mid-2022.
