Neo-Renaissance meets neo-Baroque: the Imperial Postal Directorate was designed by the privy building councillor Wilhelm Walter, the construction was led by the postal building inspector Ludwig Meyer. The construction work lasted a total of four years, from 1908-1912.
The façade of the imposing building is made of red brick and Dorla shell limestone ornamentation.
The appealing blend of neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque elements is typical of the architecture of representative post office buildings from the imperial era.
The Imperial Post Office is located in Französische Strasse, one of the top addresses in Berlin-Mitte, just a few meters from Friedrichstrasse. The connection to local and long-distance public transport is ideal.
The location simply couldn't be better. The Galerie Lafayette and the impressive Gendarmenmarkt provide a touch of savoir vivre.
You can round off your evening in style at the Komische Oper or the Konzerthaus Berlin.
